The 2nd Kindilympics, the initiative of Sr. Jean Bergado, OP, DIS Pre-School Head, brought together young learners from different schools for a day full of energy, laughter, and camaraderie on March 20, 2026, at the Bl. Giorgio Frassati Sports Field of Dominican International School. The term “Kindilympics” is a playful blend of Kinder and Olympics, describing a small-scale sporting event where kindergarten pupils gather to experience friendly competition, teamwork, and joyful play. Inspired by the spirit of the Olympic Games, it highlights the values of unity, sportsmanship, and participation over winning. Through this special gathering, young children are given the opportunity to develop not only physical skills but also social bonds and a sense of community with peers from different schools.
Participating schools included Taipei Military Non-Profit Preschool, Zhong Shan Municipal Preschool, St. Dominic Kindergarten (Taishan), St. Dominic Preschool (Chilin Road), and Dominican International School.
The day opened with a warm welcome from Directress/Principal Sr. Jacqueline C. Manuel, OP, who officially declared the Kindilympics open and lit the symbolic pyre—marking the beginning of a celebration centered on teamwork and joyful play. This was followed by an opening prayer led by DIS School Chaplain Fr. Tomasz Zalewski, OP, setting a spirit of gratitude and unity for the day.
One of the highlights of the morning was the lively parade of participants, as children proudly represented their schools with smiles and excitement.
The games, led by Master of the Games and DIS Athletic Director Dr. Van-Truong "John" Nguyen, featured fun-filled activities such as the hula hoop challenge, tug-of-war, and relay races. Each activity encouraged teamwork, coordination, and good sportsmanship among the young athletes.
The program was energetically hosted by emcees Ms. Emily Howe and Mr. Paul Li, who kept the crowd engaged and the atmosphere upbeat throughout the event. Guests, teachers, and students also enjoyed simple refreshments, offering a chance to relax and connect in between activities.
The organizers gratefully acknowledge the presence and support of school leaders from participating institutions: Ms. Linda Chu, Principal of Taipei Military Non-Profit Preschool; Ms. Angel Liu, Principal of St. Dominic Preschool (Chilin Road); Ms. Lien, Principal of Zhong Shan Municipal Kindergarten; and Sr. Cecilia Chan, Principal of St. Dominic Kindergarten (Taishan).
The celebration wrapped up with an awarding ceremony, recognizing the efforts and participation of all the young athletes. More than just a day of games, the 2nd Kindilympics was a joyful celebration of unity, friendship, and the vibrant spirit of early childhood—where every child is truly a champion.
