Ripple by Ripple, Charity in Action

A Year to Seven Decades

7 September 2026

Every journey begins with a single moment, a single act, and a single ripple that reaches farther than we may ever see. As Dominican International School looks toward its 70th year, the number 69 in this anniversary logo represents more than simply the years that have passed. It represents a journey shaped by faith, education, service, friendship, and the many lives touched along the way. For nearly seven decades, generations of students, teachers, families, alumni, and members of the community have each contributed their own ripple—small acts of kindness, compassion, generosity, and service that have grown into something much greater. This year, as we stand one year away from seven decades, we are invited not only to look back with gratitude, but also to look forward with hope, continuing to create ripples that make a difference in the lives of others.

The circular design surrounding the 69 reflects the movement of a ripple spreading outward from a single point. It reminds us that charity does not always begin with something grand. It can begin with one person helping another, one student choosing compassion, one teacher offering encouragement, one family sharing what they have, or one member of the community reaching out in service. When these simple acts are repeated and shared, their impact extends far beyond where they began.

At the center of the design is the Cross, a reminder that Christ remains at the heart of the Dominican International School community. It represents the faith that has guided the school throughout its journey and continues to shape its mission of forming young people through truth, love, service, and compassion. The Cross reminds us that our call to charity is not simply about what we do for others, but about living out our faith through our actions.

The Dominican banner reflects the school's rich Dominican heritage and the tradition that has helped shape its identity for generations. It connects the present community to the legacy of the Dominican Order and its commitment to faith, truth, learning, and service. As DIS approaches seven decades, the banner serves as a reminder of the values that have been carried forward from one generation to another.

The two people reaching out to one another bring the theme of “Charity in Action.” to life. Their gesture represents connection, compassion, generosity, and the willingness to reach beyond ourselves to help another person. They remind us that charity is lived through relationships—that we are called not only to receive, but also to reach out, support one another, and become a source of hope for others. Like a ripple, one person's act of kindness can reach another and inspire yet another to do the same.

This is the heart of our anniversary theme:

“Ripple by Ripple, Charity in Action – A Year to Seven Decades”

The phrase “Ripple by Ripple” reminds us that meaningful change often begins with something small. “Charity in Action.” calls us to move beyond good intentions and put our faith into practice through service, generosity, compassion, and love. Together, these words reflect a community that believes that every good deed matters—and that every person has the ability to create a positive impact.

The 69 also carries a sense of anticipation. It honors the story that has already been written while pointing toward the milestone of seven decades. It is a celebration of the past, a reminder of the present, and an invitation to shape the future. As we approach 70 years, we recognize that our legacy has been built not only through achievements and milestones, but through countless moments of kindness and service that have touched lives from one generation to the next.

At the heart of this celebration is the reminder from Scripture:

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

This verse beautifully captures the spirit of “Charity in Action.” Our good works become a light—not to draw attention to ourselves, but to reflect God's love and inspire others to do the same. Like a ripple moving across water, one act of goodness can encourage another, and another, until the impact reaches farther than we imagined.

As we journey through “A Year to Seven Decades,” may this logo remind us that the story of Dominican International School is not measured simply by the number of years, but by the lives touched, the hearts inspired, and the ripples of kindness created along the way.

Special thanks to Mr. Erick Gonzales, creator of the anniversary logo, for bringing this meaningful theme and vision to life through design.
