The Faculty and Staff of DIS came together to celebrate the Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, with a lively potluck and barbecue party held right on campus. Traditionally celebrated across East and Southeast Asia, the festival honors the harvest, the full moon, and family unity. The evening was filled with warmth, laughter, and camaraderie as colleagues shared a wide variety of delicious dishes, including a whole roasted pork lechon as the centerpiece of the feast.
Guests also enjoyed traditional touches of the festival, such as mooncakes and colorful lanterns, adding a festive cultural flavor to the gathering. Staff members enjoyed casual conversations, exchanged stories, and delighted in the joyful atmosphere, savoring both the food and the sense of community that comes from gathering together outside the classroom.
The celebration was graced by the school leadership, with Principal Sr. Jacqueline C. Manuel, OP, and Vice Principal Sr. Rosa Dabhi, CCV, joining the festivities and sharing in the laughter, music, and camaraderie of the evening.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, attendees showcased their hidden talents in a karaoke singing session, filling the school grounds with music, cheer, and joyful performances. The event highlighted not only the rich culinary traditions of the Moon Festival but also the joy of spending time together beyond the classroom.
One staff member remarked, “It’s wonderful to celebrate as a community—sharing food, stories, and songs reminds us why our team is so special.” The Moon Festival celebration was a perfect reminder that connection and collaboration extend beyond work, strengthening the bonds that make DIS a vibrant and supportive school community.
